It possibly wasn't the next commitment the Mustangs expected, but SMU will definitely take it.

On Saturday, Pearland Dawson defensive end Robert Seals committed to SMU, deciding to end his recruiting early.

"I really liked the school. Coach Reinebold really seems like he is a real coach and pretty cool. They are turning things around there, and it will be cool to be part of it. It's a place where I feel that I could be successful," said Seals to PonyStampede.com. "He told me that they are trying to step up to a new level, and I could really help with that."

At 6'3, 225 pounds, the junior recorded 50 tackles and 7.5 sacks last season. Teammates with 2010 SMU cornerback walk-on David Farris, Seals (4.65 self-reported forty) was escorted around practice by his former teammate.

"Robert doesn't have to talk to get his point across to his teammates, he works hard and produces on the field to motivate his teammates," said Farris.

Seals informed PonyStampede.com early during practice, that there was a good chance he would be committing. It wasn't until he watched a full practice, talked with SMU commitment Kris Weeks, had a tour of the campus, and had a 1-on-1 with recruiting coach Jeff Reinebold that he was ready to make his decision. He then informed Coach Jones himself.

"He said that he was happy and that it was great news," said Seals.

Seals was currently hearing from TCU, Baylor, Texas A&M, and Kansas State before committing today.
