On Sunday afternoon, PonyStampede.com was able to see first hand Allen wide receiver Jonathan Lee. The junior did not disappoint, standing out as one of the top receivers at the ESPN Rise camp.
"I felt the day went pretty good. I had a great day in 1-on-1s, but didn't get as many reps as I would have liked," said Lee. "Guys were always jumping in line, but I felt that overall it was a pretty good day."
"A day like this really just helps my hands get better and it gives me a chance to learn from guys who have already been there and done the whole process."
"I would say that Tech, Tulsa, and Iowa are recruiting me the hardest as of late," said Lee. "I went to SMU's junior day a couple weeks back. They did really good last season. Coach June Jones is a really good coach and I really like them. Their coaching staff is really good. I think I would have the opportunity to go in there and start."
The Allen product has been making the stops as of late and will continue to heavily do so. He wants to make sure before his decision is made, he can take as many visits as possible.
"I went to Tech a couple weeks ago and I went to Baylor yesterday," said Lee (6'2, 190 pounds). "Baylor was a prey good trip. I really like the coaching staff. I know they are young, but once they get Robert Griffin back, they are going to be good."
"I'm going to Iowa next Saturday. I'm also planning trips to Houston, Tulsa, and SMU."
When asked what the coaches at SMU are telling the wide receiver, he replied, "They told me that they think I could make a huge impact as a Mustang."
Allen's spring practices are right around the corner and Lee's excitement level is high. The Eagles finished 10-2 last season, but will be breaking in a new quarterback after TCU signee Matt Brown's departure.
"I'm really excited. I have been ready to put on the pads for a while. I just really want to get on the same page as my younger quarterback," said Lee.
