As news spread on the Internet last night that the Mustangs received their first commitment of the 2011 recruiting class, PonyStampede.com talked with Sachse coach Mark Behrens about the newest SMU offensive lineman.

"He is a big solid kid. He does a great job pass blocking and he does a good job on the run as well. He is just really solid," said Behrens. "We are excited for him and excited for him family. We think he will definitely be an asset at SMU. I think he really likes it over there and likes the idea of being close."

Behrens has had some luck helping offensive lineman move onto the next level. Last season's starting center and right tackle were both D1 players in the 2010 recruiting class.

"Offensive line wise, we have had some luck. We had one go to Tech when we first started. Our center is going to Air Force this year and our right tackle is headed to K-State. We have been lucky when it comes to our district. It's a really athletic district, but we have been lucky to get some lineman."

So what is Kris Weeks like off the field?

He is a great kid. A real "yes sir" "no sir" type of kid," said Behrens. "He has really come into his own this year and off-season. I'm really proud of his work ethic this off-season. I think it's going to really pay off for him this spring."
