It didn't take long for Mustang fans to start talking about Southmoore wide receiver Julian Wilson's new 40-time. The junior, who holds an offer from SMU and Tulsa, ran a sub 4.4 at the OKvarsity.com combine at Southern Nazarene University on Saturday.

"I knew that I could run fast, but not that fast," stated Wilson to PonyStampede.com on Sunday. "I think it will open some eyes. Like my coach said, there are not many people in the NFL that can get to a 4.3, so it should make some colleges recruit me a little harder and pay more attention."

After attending a Saturday practice two weeks ago, and meeting with Jeff Reinebold for more than a half an hour, Wilson received an offer from the Mustangs. He at the time, instantly named the Mustangs as his top school.

"SMU is a great school. Football wise I love the coaches. Even though the offer came two weeks ago, nothing has changed. I feel the same way about them," said the wide receiver. "I could see myself playing there. Nothing has changed on that front."

This past season for Southmoore, the junior played a huge role on both sides of the ball. Offensively, he had 21 catches for 286 yards and three touchdowns. On defense, he was in on 48 tackles and six pass break ups.

Besides for his quick 40-time, Wilson is impressing on the track. The speedster is expected to make the Oklahoma 6A state tournament in the 100 meters, 200 meters, 4x100, and 4x400. His fastest times this year are a n a 10.4 in the100-meter dash and a 21.4 in the 200-meter dash.

With him putting up impressive speed numbers, recruiting for Wilson should be on the rise. Local schools like Oklahoma and Oklahoma State are already showing plenty of interest.

"If was to get an offer from someone like that, I wouldn't commitment right away. There are pro and cons to every school. Being close matters to me, but SMU isn't that far away from me either," said Wilson. "Right now I'm not planning on doing anything this spring or early summer. I'm going to just get through the summer and plan out my officials. I'm pretty sure right now I'm planning on taking at least one of my officials to SMU.

PonyStampede.com will have more on Julian Wilson as it becomes available.
