SMU On His Radar!
Let's discuss in the Pony Express Board Room....CLICK HERE Coach June Jones has made it a point that he will go after the best recruits in the nation. It does not matter who they have offers from, because SMU has something to offer them. We find that to be true once again with Naples, Florida running back Darion Hall. PonyStampede.com told you back in February that Hall had an offer from the Mustangs. Now, the junior has official offers from SMU, Vanderbilt, Michigan, Kansas, Clemson, and West Virginia. He is also receiving interest from Florida, Miami, and Mississippi to name a few. What are his thoughts about his offer from SMU? "It shows me they are a really good school that offer good people. They are a school that I could see myself go to," stated Hall to PonyStampede.com. "They are pretty high on my radar. I want to go to a place that is warm and not too cold. Early playing time is also something that interests me…Right now I don't have a list of favorites, I'm just keeping it pretty open." Hall (6-1, 200 pounds) burst onto the scene last year when he opened the season at Barron Collier with 12 carries for 261 yards. The junior ended up running for total of 169 times for 1796 yards and 26 touchdowns. Hall's 10.6 yards per carry, was number one in the state of Florida. He also averaged over 18 yards per reception. He was held under 100 yards only once, and that was a 10 carry, 98-yard effort in a 47-20 win over Golden Gate. "I want to go to a school that uses their backs quite a bite and have a really good education," said Hall. "I want to make a decision before the season starts. I want to be able to focus on my team during my senior year." The Trojans finished the season 7-4 overall, and was bounced in the first round of the playoffs. The loss has Hall working harder this off-season, to try to take his team farther next year. "I'm just working really hard lifting weights and running my sprints. I'm just trying to do anything I can to get ready for the next year and the next level," said Hall. "We are a really young team, our defensive is pretty solid, but our o-line is really young." So how did the Mustangs find Hall? Lely coach Steve Pricer ran into June Jones at a coach's convention in Nashville. There he gave the second year coach Hall's highlight tape. The running back benches 215 pounds and squats 395. Hall was named 3A FSWA Second Team All-State
