A last minute visit to Flower Mound High School by a Southern Methodist University coach resulted in a last minute official visit for one area high school prospect.

Collin Ashley, a wide receiver and defensive back for Flower Mound recently took an official visit to SMU.

The talented athlete came away very impressed with June Jones and things on the Hilltop.

"I had a great time," Ashley told PonyStampede.com Sunday afternoon. "I really liked the coaching staff a lot. "What an impressive campus, I really liked the atmosphere a lot."

According to Ashley he gave SMU coaches his film on Friday and so far no official offer has been extended.

"Coach Jones told me he wished they had known about me earlier," Ashley said. "They like what film they got a chance to watch and feels that I definitely could play for them. The problem is that they have to find an available scholarship for me."

Apparently Ashley impressed Jones with the fact that he could play offense or defense.

"Coach Jones thinks that I'm a D1 player on both sides of the ball," Ashley explained. "I definitely could see myself playing at SMU."

Ashley currently has an offer from Wake Forest and is expecting more in the near future.

Ashley enjoyed his weekend of campus tours, academic presentations and the meals that the prospects were fed.

"We definitely ate great," Ashley said. "Two great steakhouses, everything was really first class. I'm definitely hoping for an offer from SMU."
