Stefan Huber is entertaining offers from three different schools including SMU, Army, and Stephen F. Austin.
The Nederland High School star offensive tackle hasn’t made an official commitment, but he is leaning heavily toward SMU.
Offensive line coach, Dennis McKnight made a huge impression on the 6’5 280lb senior at a camp on June 14. When asked why he was leaning so heavily toward SMU, his first response was, “Coach McKnight.”
Huber was born in San Antonio, moved to Port Arthur, and eventually ended up in Nederland during his middle school years. Stefan has a sister and a brother living in the Dallas area, and the native Texan would love to stay in his home state.
He is first team on the Rodgers Recruiting Report Pre-Season All Academic Team, and says that academics are also weighing heavily on his decision. He is planning on majoring in Biology, and he feels that SMU has an academic advantage over the other schools he is considering.
Huber is excited about the buzz that new head coach June Jones is bringing to the SMU campus, and has a high level of respect for both McKnight and Jones.
Huber knows Coach Jones has a reputation for running a solid program and he feels that SMU is a good fit. Stefan said he would like to make his commitment before the beginning of the season if at all possible to avoid any further distractions; otherwise he will wait until after the season to make his decision. During the season one must focus on the task at hand.
