For one Texas High School prospect, academics is going to play a major part in his decision making process.

Colleyville Heritage linebacker Bobby Schneider already has two Division 1 scholarship offers, but that number is likely to increase, especially when college recruiters see the standout linebacker’s recent test scores.

“I scored a 2,000 on the SAT,” Schneider told PonyStampede.com Sunday evening. “Academics will definitely play a major role in the school I choose. I want to play D1 football, but more importantly I want to get a quality education.”

Schneider, an outside linebacker who made over 135 tackles last fall and eight sacks, currently has offers from Boise State and Buffalo . His performance on the field last fall helped him earn District DE MVP honors, All-District and All-Area honors.

Two schools that haven’t offered the academic and athletic standout are two of the schools that Schneider list as his early favorites.

“I would have to say Stanford and SMU would have to be my top two right now,” Schneider said. “Academic reputation is very important. The ability to play at the school and the success of the team will also factor in my decision. Northwestern is also high on my list.”

Schneider got a chance to visit SMU in the spring for the Mustang’s Junior Day and was impressed with things on the Hilltop.

“The coaches were really down to earth and great guys,” Schneider said. “June Jones has the Mustangs looking good with an entirely new look. I definitely have a lot of interest in SMU.”

Other schools that are currently recruiting include Rice, Duke, Vanderbilt and Tulsa.

The 6’0 205 pound senior has 4.55 speed in the forty and a 300 pound bench press max. Bobby squats 420 pounds and has a vertical of 32 inches. Schneider is also a member of the CHHS baseball team.

Schneider has a 4.0 G.P.A on a 4.0 scale.
