Dallas Skyline NT Mychealon Thomas talks about SMU and more!

The SMU football program would love to build a pipeline with Dallas Skyline to encourage more of their players to attend the Hilltop.

This spring, wide receivers coach Jason Philips spent time with multiple Raiders including Class of 2014 nose tackle Mychealon Thomas.

SMU was the first school to show interest in the 6-foot-2, 295-pounder, and he visited earlier this spring for junior day.

"I really liked SMU when I visited," he said. "It was a really nice school and just seemed like a great place to go. I still haven't camped with them yet this summer because I have been really busy, but I'm going to try and make to their next one."

But since then, Thomas, who says he doesn't know too much about the school, hasn't heard much from the SMU coaching staff.

"I have not kept in contact with Coach Philips very often," he said. "They are recruiting a lot of guys, so I understand why I haven't heard much from them. It's a good coaching staff, but I just don't know if they are great recruiters."

SMU has offered plenty of Dallas Skyline prospects in 2014 and 2015. But Thomas, who thought he had an offer but found out it was miscommunicated, would fill the biggest SMU's biggest need if he were to commit.

"I think I would fit into their defense really well," he said. "SMU would be a good school to go to, and I'm definitely considering them. I wouldn't call them a favorite or put them in my top five though."

The three-star prospect mentioned Baylor, Houston, TCU, Texas Tech, Kansas St, and Ole Miss as schools that have shown strong interest. He won Defensive Line MVP at the Next Level Athlete camp in the spring and hopes what he learned will transition to the field this spring.

"I think my biggest strength is my ability to finish plays," he said. "Next year, I hope to improve my game and get more offers. Hopefully, I go to state with my team, my family, and my brothers then I will be happy no matter where I end up for college."
