FREE: Brown Commits To SMU
After receiving an offer from SMU offensive line coach Wes Suan last week, Brown decided to pull the trigger and commit to the Mustangs.
"SMU felt like the right place," he said. "After visiting and doing my research on the program and the academics, it just felt like the right place for me to be."
Brown, who stands at 6-foot-3, 290-pounds, says he is ecstatic about joining the SMU program and said Coach Suan shared his excitement when he told him the news.
"Coach Suan was really happy, and he said this makes his job easier because he doesn't have to keep looking for guys," Brown said. "He told me he was excited and wants me to stay with this commitment no matter what."
Brown also holds offers from Tulsa and Yale and has received interest from schools such as Stanford, TCU and Texas A&M but says his commitment to SMU is as solid as can be.
"I am solid to SMU. I'm 100 percent committed all the way," he said. "I would say I am committed no matter what. I am going to SMU."
Now with this heavy weight lifted off his shoulders, Brown says he is focused on getting ready for his final high school football season and can do so without the added stress of the recruiting process.
"It is nice to get out of the way, knowing that I have a full-ride to a program like SMU," he said. "Now I don't have to worry as much and can focus on performing my best."
