HOW FAST CAN things change in recruiting? Take the case of 6-3, 275-pound defensive line prospect…
Minor Discusses Visit, Upcoming Decision
On Sunday night the Houston Lamar defensive end said that he has narrowed his decision down to SMU and Texas Tech. Lamar, who visited SMU this past weekend, says that right now that is where he feels most comfortable.
"It's definitely narrowed down," the 6-foot-3 260-pound senior said. "Honestly, right now it's complicated but I felt more comfortable at SMU because I'm going into it with a teammate who I've been playing with and I know that he wants it just as bad as I want it. I also just felt comfortable around the environment period."
Minor says that when weighing his two options he isn't looking at conference or distance from home as much as he is weighing education and feeling comfortable. Minor says that when it's all said and done he will make the best decision for him.
"I do feel like I should be playing in a bigger conference but the thing is if I don't feel comfortable in that conference, why go?" Minor said. "I don't care where I play. If it's the Big 12, Conference USA or the Pac-12, I'm going to go out there, do my thing and get recognized no matter what level of football or conference that I play in."
While at SMU Minor was hosted by sophomore wide receiver Jeremy Johnson. Minor said Johnson really took a liking to him and told him that if he were to come back to SMU that they would be great friends.
Minor says that he got a chance to meet with head coach June Jones and defensive line coach Bert Hill as well as his recruiting coach Jason Phillips. Minor says that they made him feel like they really wanted to see him as a Mustang.
"They're all good people," Minor said. "I can tell that they really want me there, just like all the coaches from the other colleges that have been recruiting me."
Minor says he also spent a lot of time with the freshmen asking them questions about what the classes are like and life on campus.
"Most of the people that I hung around were freshmen about to be sophomores," Minor said. "I felt comfortable around them, I really did. I asked them questions about classes and how practices and workouts are and they were giving me all the answers that I was looking for."
Minor says that when he does make his final decision, it will be at Delmar stadium, the same place that teammate Cedric Lancaster will sign his letter of intent to SMU.
