Coppell 3-Star Safety Has Interest In SMU

Coppel HS (TX) safety David Busby is hearing from a handful of schools and could be seeing his offer really soon. Come inside as the 2012 prospect talks about his recruitment with SMU.

Coppell HS (TX) went 13-1 last season. While many will point to the efforts of Notre Dame signee Cam McDaniel for the cause of their success, he wasn't the only future college player doing his part.

On defense, the Cowboys were led by Oklahoma signee Bennett Okotcha and 2012 safety standout David Busby. The junior recorded 80 tackles and picked off seven passes.

Now the 3-star junior is hearing from a handful of schools, including SMU.

"They have great academics and that's interest me. Plus, it's also pretty close to home, which is nice for my family to be able to see me play," said Busby. "I have been receiving a lot of letters from them and I was invited to their home games this year. I wasn't able to make it out to the regular season games, but I did go to their bowl game.

"I liked the atmosphere they had. They seemed to have a lot of fan support and stuff. Because it was the bowl, I wasn't able to make it on the field or anything, but it was still nice. I'm definitely interested in taking in their junior day."

The junior has already taken in Oklahoma's junior day and reported to's Mike Coppage that the trip was enjoyable.

"I would say Nebraska, UCLA, Oklahoma, Baylor, Oregon, and Texas A&M are the other schools that I'm interested in. I'm talking to Baylor a lot. An offer could be coming." Recommended Stories
